The PODS May meeting will be held on Thursday May 26th starting at 6:30pm at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church In Dripping Springs. Our guest speaker will be our very own Dave Wilson. Dave will be speaking about motor racing photography.
Dave Wilson’s wife thought she was on to a good thing when she married a Scottish guy whose only sporting passion was Formula 1 motor racing. What chance was there that something as strictly European as that would appear in Austin and entice him to spend weekends at a race track? Now after 4 years of the United States Grand Prix at our shiny, new Circuit of the Americas, she’s come to terms with losing her husband several weekends a year for F1 and the other great world racing series that come to Texas.
With 4 years of motor racing photography under his belt, Dave will discuss technique and equipment needed to shoot fast-moving cars and motorcycles, and will also “walk” you around Circuit of the Americas pointing out the best shooting locations for the majority of us unfortunate enough to be outside the fences.

The artistic talents of Dripping Springs will be on display in photographic form this month from the 21st through the 27th at Hudson’s on Mercer, where the Photographers of Dripping Springs are presenting their annual digital show themed “In and Around Dripping Springs”.
This year’s show spans the work of thirteen artists, as selected by judge Rama Tiru of Austin. An adjunct professor at Austin Community College, Ms. Tiru is the artist and author of the coffee table book Austin: East of I-35. She has chosen the finest photos from the Club’s members, representing a variety of different styles and techniques.
The selected photographs include landscapes, portraits, nature, abstract images, and more. Chosen for special recognition in the show are Dave Wilson, Michael Penn Smith, Pamela Ward, and Winifred Smith. Along with the contributions from the rest of the club, this exhibition aims to showcase the flavor and experience of our beautiful community.
With their motto “Keepin’ Drippin’ Clickin’”, the Photographers of Dripping Springs have been very dynamic, from monthly field trips to workshops, and serving as the city’s official photographers for its many publications. The membership is active and always developing, as the growing quality and diversity of the works selected to show gives testament. Members range from enthusiastic hobbyists to published professionals, and the works on display employ everything from expensive SLR cameras all the way to an iPhone, so there’s a place for anyone with a passionate eye.
The opening of the show will be celebrated with the artists on the afternoon of Saturday May 21st, beginning at 4:00pm at Hudson’s on Mercer, a hub for performance arts in the town. Stop by through the following Friday to enjoy this fine art exhibit as well.

The PODS April meeting will be held on Thursday, April 28th at 6:30pm. Meeting location will be the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church at 301 Hays County Acres Rd in Dripping Springs,TX. Our March Meeting will be on Thursday March 24, 2016 at 6:30pm. Due to a scheduling conflict at our regular meeting space we will be meeting at the Dripping Springs City Hall located at 511 W Mercer Street in Dripping Springs.
Our speaker this month will be Kirk Tuck. Mr Tuck is a well known portrait photographer. He is a photography instructor for online educator, Craftsy.com and over 150,000 people have taken one or more of his video courses. PODS February Meeting is just around the corner. Come join us on February 25th at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church located at 301 Hays County Acres Rd in Dripping Springs. Kevin is a well known for his fantastic photography classes and destination workshops as well as being an awesome photographer. It should be a great presentation so don’t miss it! We have a very exciting guest speaker this month. Photographer Ramu Tiru will be presenting “Places Visited, Faces Captured.” “I am a traveller of time, always looking for “Magic” to happen everyday.The ambiguity of life with all the contradictions and clichés is what keeping me emotionally looking for that “Magic”.
Life is transient and is a wondrous mosaic, experienced simultaneously by our body, mind and soul. Once the soul leaves the body “I” and “My” mind will stop to exist. Until then…. Notice to all: There will not be a December meeting due to the holidays. Instead all members of PODS are invited to the Annual PODS Holiday Party that will be held on December 11th at 7:00pm. Details will be sent out to members via email and the Google + page.

Note this is a different day of the week because of the Thanksgiving holiday falling on our normal meeting time.

The October meeting will start at 6:30pm on Thursday October 22, 2015 at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church located at 301 Hays County Acres Rd in Dripping Springs. Please note the new location and time!!

Our guest speaker is Phil Warner. His presentation will be an Introduction to Spherical Panoramic Photography. He will be covering the basic gear, software, methods and workflow to create a 360 spherical image. Phil Warner began shooting 360 images in 2008 when he built a programmable panohead. His favorite projects over the past few years have been creating interactive experiences for several university athletic programs, racing events at the Circuit of the Americas and he is currently working on Multiple projects for AMC Networks.

The meeting will be held at 6:00pm on Thursday, September 24th at the Church of the Holy Spirit. Address is 301 Hays County Acres in Dripping Springs,Texas.

Our speaker will be Tim Babiak. He has requested that we use the entire meeting time for his workshop. So we will be skipping the business portion of the meeting so he can have more time. The workshop will run roughly 2 hours. Tim is providing a model so that we can practice outdoor available light portraits. Bring your camera- you will be shooting! Tim is only using his camera and a 85mm lens so you don’t need to bring a bunch of equipment (unless you really want to).
Please remember to bring your framed photos for the Wesley Show with you to the meeting. Chris and Laura will be collecting them if you have them ready.
