The PODS February meeting will be on Thursday, February 23rd at 6:30pm. Our meetings are held at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church (Parish Hall) at 301 Hays Country Acres Rd right off of Highway 290. Happy 2017! Did you get a new camera for Christmas? Maybe your New Year’s resolution is to learn more about photography. Whatever the reason it’s a great time to come out and meet us. We will be having our January meeting on Thursday, January 26th at 6:30pm. We meet at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church located at 301 Hays Country Acres Rd in Dripping Springs. He will be speaking about night photography and this presentation will be a great way to expand your photographic knowledge.
PODS is open to any and all photographers from beginners to pros. It’s a great place to learn, make friends and have fun!

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday PODS will hold the November meeting one week (and one day) early. The meeting will be on Wednesday, November 16th at 6:30pm at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church (Parish Hall) located at 301 Hays Country Acres Rd in Dripping Springs, Texas. We will be hosting a photography “show and tell” this month with our members and guests bringing in their favorite piece of photography equipment. Anyone who would like to get up and talk about their equipment will be able to do so and we will allow time for everyone to get a chance to ask questions and see the gear. At the end of the meeting we will also have a swap meet so that anyone that’s looking to sell, trade or buy used (or new) equipment can do so at that time. We’ve done this Show & Tell/Swap Meet several times in the past and it’s always been so much fun! So don’t miss out- mark your calendars now!

The PODS October monthly meeting will be held on Thursday, October 27th at 6:30pm. We meet at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church (Parish Hall) located at 301 Hays Country Acres Road. Our guest speaker will be Jim Nix and he will be discussing Aurora HDR Pro- Use and Tips. HDR is short for High Dynamic Range and the process to create HDR photos is both fun and interesting. The PODS September meeting will be held on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 6:30pm. Our meetings are at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church (Parish Hall) located at 301 Hays Country Acres Rd in Dripping Springs, TX.  Our guest speaker will be Tim Kasberger of Color Inc. and he will be speaking about photo printing. The PODS August meeting is coming up soon. We will meet on Thursday August 25th-6:30pm at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church in Dripping Springs Texas.

The PODS May meeting will be held on Thursday May 26th starting at 6:30pm at the Holy Spirit Episcopal Church In Dripping Springs. Our guest speaker will be our very own Dave Wilson. Dave will be speaking about motor racing photography.
Dave Wilson’s wife thought she was on to a good thing when she married a Scottish guy whose only sporting passion was Formula 1 motor racing. What chance was there that something as strictly European as that would appear in Austin and entice him to spend weekends at a race track? Now after 4 years of the United States Grand Prix at our shiny, new Circuit of the Americas, she’s come to terms with losing her husband several weekends a year for F1 and the other great world racing series that come to Texas.
With 4 years of motor racing photography under his belt, Dave will discuss technique and equipment needed to shoot fast-moving cars and motorcycles, and will also “walk” you around Circuit of the Americas pointing out the best shooting locations for the majority of us unfortunate enough to be outside the fences.

The artistic talents of Dripping Springs will be on display in photographic form this month from the 21st through the 27th at Hudson’s on Mercer, where the Photographers of Dripping Springs are presenting their annual digital show themed “In and Around Dripping Springs”.
This year’s show spans the work of thirteen artists, as selected by judge Rama Tiru of Austin. An adjunct professor at Austin Community College, Ms. Tiru is the artist and author of the coffee table book Austin: East of I-35. She has chosen the finest photos from the Club’s members, representing a variety of different styles and techniques.
The selected photographs include landscapes, portraits, nature, abstract images, and more. Chosen for special recognition in the show are Dave Wilson, Michael Penn Smith, Pamela Ward, and Winifred Smith. Along with the contributions from the rest of the club, this exhibition aims to showcase the flavor and experience of our beautiful community.
With their motto “Keepin’ Drippin’ Clickin’”, the Photographers of Dripping Springs have been very dynamic, from monthly field trips to workshops, and serving as the city’s official photographers for its many publications. The membership is active and always developing, as the growing quality and diversity of the works selected to show gives testament. Members range from enthusiastic hobbyists to published professionals, and the works on display employ everything from expensive SLR cameras all the way to an iPhone, so there’s a place for anyone with a passionate eye.
The opening of the show will be celebrated with the artists on the afternoon of Saturday May 21st, beginning at 4:00pm at Hudson’s on Mercer, a hub for performance arts in the town. Stop by through the following Friday to enjoy this fine art exhibit as well.
