PODS Monthly Meeting- May 25,2023 6:30PM

The PODS Monthly Meeting is on Thurs., May 25, at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in the Church Hall at 6:30 p.m., 301 Hays Country Acres Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620

Program: Our speaker will be Warren Capps. His program is titled “Planning and Executing a Travel Photography Trip” Before traveling to a new place for a photo-shoot, it is important to set objectives for your photography. What is your purpose? Research may be needed to know the seasonality and the prime photo subjects. What you want to shoot defines the equipment you need. What you plan to do with the photos when you get home may influence your shooting style. At the same you have to open to serendipity and the unexpected event that crosses your path. This talk will help you create a shooting plan before you go, execute your plan onsite, and give suggestions on what to do with your photos when you get home.

Our speaker will be Michael Penn Smith.  His program is titled
                   “Completing the Circle—Presenting Your Photography”
                      (a.k.a. Getting Your Pictures From The Camera To The Wall)
A discussion on how photographers, with the explosion of social media and online communities, have settled into easily posting their photos online, but not so much making wall art to hang at home, to give to friends and family, or to exhibit in galleries and shows.  Nowadays there are many ways to present your work suitable for hanging, and he will show some examples of easy ones, and the practical steps required.

Program: Our speaker will be Dyhanara Rios from the Lady Bird Wildflower Center. Her program is all about “Digital Media Storytelling.”Dyhanara’s mission is to inspire and empower through creativity, communication, and leadership.Here’s an introduction of Dyhanara on her website: http://dyhanara.com “I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Media and Mass Communications, combining my passion for the environment and digital media in my studies, career, and writing. I use my skills in digital media design, event planning, and public relations for my career and for volunteer organizations. I am the Multimedia Communications Specialist at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at The University of Texas at Austin. My work includes social media, web design and video production.My creative work revolves around themes of nature, friendship, and love. My first album “Sing to the Sea – EP” is available on all major music streaming platforms. I compete in San Antonio’s Puroslam poetry slam and my poetry is published in numerous anthologies.”For club members, Dyhanara will giving a PODS Workshop on March 25 titled Best Practices for Instagram and Facebook.In this workshop you will learn how to:–Maximize the time you spend on social media by implementing best practices–Plan a social media content calendar and strategy–Edit photos for the best impact

PODS Monthly Meeting- January 26,2023 6:30pm

It’s time to mark your calendars for our first members meeting of the new year on January 26, 6:30 p.m. We’re back in the church hall this year at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 301 Hays Country Acres Rd, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.The guest presenter will be John Barry Williams with the topic Following My Camera. Like many of us, John got the photography bug later in life. John has a natural eye and instinct with his picture-taking. He went from a cell phone camera to a Leica, where he has found a visual sweet spot and is taking some terrific photos. A forth generation Texan, born and raised in Austin, with a degree in journalism and zoology from the University of Texas, Austin.
